Experienced Algorithm Developer
Map-making process—a key technology in our autonomous driving and advanced driver-assistance systems. This process involves running advanced algorithmic code in a massively parallel way, and managing a complex system that requires both technical depth and strategic thinking. Autonomous Vehicles require High-Definition Maps that specify lanes, traffic signs, crosswalks, and much more. This is what we build in the REM group. We rely on crowd-sourced data, where mini maps are built during drive time and uploaded to our cloud. These mini maps are then merged into comprehensive regional maps. These large-scale maps provide detailed road-related information and insights into common driver behavior, enabling autonomous vehicles to drive more like humans. What will your job look like:
- Our Harvester group leads the first stage of the map creation process – building the mini-maps. The Algo team is responsible for analyzing, modeling, and improving the signals used to create them, and for researching new sources of information.
- The algorithmic development is done in Python, and tasks often require solid foundations in mathematics and geometry.
- We work with image-based data and focus on extracting and representing spatial information accurately and efficiently.
- We put the data on map based on GPS and mitigate many inaccuracies of the signal.
- An understanding of how to visualize and represent 2D and 3D geometric data is essential.
All you need is:
- B.Sc. in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field. M.Sc. is an advantage.
- 4+ years of experience in algorithm development.
- Hands-on experience with Python or another mainstream language.
- Strong background in linear algebra, coordinate systems, and 2D/3D geometry.
- Familiarity with data visualization.
- Background in computer vision – an advantage.
