Humanoids - Mentee
Interconnect, Harness & Test Rig Engineer
About us:
Mentee Robotics, now part of Mobileye, brings world-class robotics expertise, together with Mobileye's decades of leadership in computer vision, machine learning, and autonomous driving technologies. Building on that foundation, Mentee by Mobileye is creating the "MenteeBot", the AI-first humanoid robot that combines perception, reasoning, learning, and advanced dexterous manipulation, designed to work alongside people in their everyday lives, at the workplace and in the home. At Mobileye, our technologies power more than 230 million vehicles worldwide and have helped shape the future of autonomous mobility. With teams around the world, we continue to innovate at the forefront of autonomous systems, advancing the next generation of Physical AI for real life. Your Role We’re looking for an experienced engineer or practical engineer ( Handesai ) to own cable harnesses, electrical interconnects, and development test rigs for our humanoid robots. You’ll work in tandem with mechanical and electrical engineering , translating electrical requirements, mechanical packaging, and motion constraints into reliable, manufacturable interconnect solutions. Your scope will include routing through moving joints, connector integration, strain relief, assembly access, and serviceability. You’ll also develop test rigs and fixtures with mechanical, electrical, and motion-control engineers, coordinating their implementation and validating that they meet the teams’ testing needs. The role emphasizes design ownership, multidisciplinary integration, supplier coordination, and verification.
What will your job look like:
- Own harness and interconnect design from requirements through integration, validation, and manufacturing release.
- Collaborate with electrical engineers on wire sizing, connector ratings, pinouts, shielding, grounding, and signal separation.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers on 3D routing, packaging, connector placement, mounting, bend radii, strain relief, and protection against abrasion and repeated movement.
- Ensure harnesses accommodate robot motion while supporting practical assembly, inspection, replacement, and maintenance.
- Produce and maintain wiring diagrams, harness drawings, wire lists, bills of materials, and manufacturing documentation.
- Develop test-rig concepts with mechanical, electrical, and motion-control teams, defining interfaces, instrumentation needs, fixture requirements, and verification procedures.
- Coordinate prototype fabrication and assembly with internal teams and external suppliers.
- Plan and execute harness and interconnect validation, document results, and investigate integration or durability failures.
- Review supplier designs and first articles, resolve manufacturability issues, and maintain revision control and traceability.
All you need is:
- 3+ years of experience in harness, interconnect, or electromechanical integration design.
- Electrical, mechanical, or mechatronics engineering background, practical engineering qualification, or equivalent proven experience.
- Experience working across mechanical and electrical disciplines to deliver integrated designs.
- Understanding of harness routing, connector selection, wire sizing, shielding, grounding, and mechanical protection.
- Experience creating harness drawings, pinout tables, bills of materials, and manufacturing documentation.
- Familiarity with 3D CAD and electrical or harness-design tools.
- Experience coordinating suppliers, prototype builds, design reviews, and engineering changes.
- Ability to define and execute verification procedures, interpret measurements, and communicate findings clearly.
Nice to have:
- Experience with continuous-flex harnesses and routing through moving robotic joints.
- Experience developing electromechanical test rigs or electrical test fixtures.
- Familiarity with SolidWorks Electrical, Creo, CATIA, EPLAN, or comparable design tools.
- Familiarity with motor wiring, encoder interfaces, CAN, EtherCAT/Ethernet, and noise-sensitive sensor connections.
- Knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620 workmanship and acceptance requirements.
- Experience with test automation, data acquisition, or durability testing.
