Robotics Maintenance & Field Engineer
About us:
Mobileye is a global leader in Physical AI, developing computer vision, software, and hardware to power autonomous driving solutions and humanoid robots. Our mission is to bring autonomy into the real world by building intelligent technologies that are designed to expand accessibility and enhance everyday life, from advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving to robotics and humanoids.
Built on decades of automotive innovation and industrial-scale AI expertise, Mobileye technologies power more than 230 million vehicles worldwide. With teams around the world, we continue to innovate at the forefront of autonomous systems, advancing the next generation of Physical AI for the real world.
About the team:
Who you are:
- Versatile mechatronics technician and engineer who can comfortably replace carbon-fiber structural limbs, repair dense harnesses, trace bus communication faults, and flash low-level firmware.
- Field-oriented problem solver who thrives under live demonstration pressure, maintains a calm technical demeanor, and prioritizes safety.
- Methodical practitioner who tracks hardware failure metrics, builds field maintenance guides, manages spare parts inventories, and feeds failures back to R&D teams.
- A strong collaborator across test operations, hardware design, embedded software, and customer support teams.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain, inspect, diagnose, and repair complex humanoid robot hardware, including joint actuators, structural shells, power distribution units, and wiring harnesses.
- Execute scheduled preventative maintenance routines: joint zero-position calibration verification, fastener torque checks, structural wear inspection, and thermal lubricant replacement.
- Perform real-time troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical bus (EtherCAT/CAN-FD), sensor streaming, and control software deployment issues during lab testing and live customer demos.
- Manage firmware provisioning, software version deployments, configuration updates, and log collection across internal testing robot fleets.
- Organize, track, and optimize spare parts inventory, specialized repair tooling, diagnostic equipment, and transport deployment cases.
- Create comprehensive field maintenance manuals, teardown/repair SOPs, troubleshooting decision trees, and technician training modules.
- Log, track, and categorize hardware issues using ticketing systems (Jira), conducting initial root-cause analysis and feeding engineering logs back to R&D teams.
- Provide on-site technical operational support during high-profile public trade shows, customer field trials, and media demonstrations.
Requirements:
- B.Sc. or Associate Degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 7+ years of field engineering, mechatronics maintenance, or system integration experience in robotics, industrial automation, or complex electro-mechanical platforms.
- Excellent hands-on mechanical and electrical repair skills: precision disassembly, soldering, wire crimping, torque wrench operation, bearing replacement.
- Proficiency using digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, CAN/EtherCAT bus analyzers, and Linux terminal command line diagnostics.
- Familiarity with Linux command-line tools, shell scripting, ROS/ROS 2 diagnostic commands, and firmware flashing procedures.
- Calm composure under pressure, exceptional safety discipline, and readiness for flexible field support travel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional problem escalation.
Advantages:
- Direct hands-on maintenance experience with full-scale humanoid robots, quadrupeds, or multi-axis industrial robot arms.
- Experience managing robot fleet health monitoring software, Jira issue tracking, and spare parts BOMs.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel for domestic and international live field operations.
- Comfortable communicating technical topics in English with international teams.
